SATIF-16 will be held from 28 to 31 May 2024 at the at the National Laboratories of Frascati of the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics, or INFN.

The SATIF-16, - the 16th workshop on the shielding aspects of accelerators, targets and irradiation facilities, aims to promote the exchange of information and knowledge between the major experts in the field of radiation physics and the practical applications of ionizing radiation , in science and technologies.

The main objectives of SATIF-16, in accordance with the meeting program are: promote the exchange of information between experts in the field of accelerator shielding; promote international cooperation in these fields of interest; plan and create a task force to deal with these fields.

SATIF workshops are held every two years and are hosted on rotation between the various continents. The activities of SATIF are promoted together with the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and its Nuclear Science Committee (NSC) and by all participating institutions.

INFN

The National Institute of Nuclear Physics or INFN, was established in 1951 with the aim of continuing and developing the scientific tradition begun in the 1930s by Enrico Fermi and his school in the field of nuclear physics.

The birth of the Frascati National Laboratories or LNF dates back to 1955 and coincides with the construction of the first Italian accelerator: the electrosynchrotron. The Laboratories also host the DAΦNE, which, until the switching on of the LHC in Geneva, was the only accelerator of its kind to be active in Europe.
